We believe that by focusing on building healthy and robust soil systems, we can not only increase the productive capacity of our farm, but we can also improve the nutritional value and flavor of our produce. This translates into a higher quality product that looks better, tastes better, and lasts longer. We are certified organic to ensure that we provide a product that is safe, clean, and minimizes environmental impact. We use no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or fertilizers. Our fertility comes from a combination of farm-produced compost, cover crop rotations, and purchased minerals. We adhere to crop rotations that promote soil building and minimize pest and disease pressure. We have gone through the process to become MAEAP verified to ensure the systems on our farm are not negatively impacting our surrounding environment. This process allows us to evaluate the environmental impact of our agricultural activities so we can make improvements to our systems. We believe that food needs to be safe for the consumer, which is why we have pursued GAP certification through the USDA. This audit follows the production, harvest, and delivery cycle, ensuring a process that minimizes microbial, physical, and chemical contamination of products. As a result, we are confident that our products are not only safe to eat, but are exceptional in quality. | We are excited to be working with the Upper Peninsula Food Exchange, the UP's food hub network. Using their online marketplace, The North Farm is able to aggregate products online with other growers to create an easy and profitable system for producers and buyers. For more information, visit www.upfoodexchange.com The U.P. Food Exchange's efforts include the development of an online marketplace. In November of 2019, the U.P. Food Exchanged partnered with Local Food Marketplace. This marketplace allows growers to aggregate products online so buyers can make purchases from many growers through a single platform.
